Yeeeeeeehawwww! It's that time again!

Church is open once again. That is, the church of college football. Angie hasn't noticed, because I've been keeping my comments to myself, but I am absolutely giddy with excitement over this year's football season. The stage is set for LSU and the SEC to set the NCAA on their ear this year. Ohio State is said to be the team to beat, and everyone is, of course, watching to see if Texas can put anything together sans Vince Young. That idiot, Kirk Herbstreit (Bigtime Dork!), is still saying that USC will make a run for the national championship, because they have Pete Carroll. I think either Herstreit gets a paycheck from Carroll, or Carroll gets something from Herbstreit on the weekend, if you know what I'm saying. Actually, the first game I plan to watch is USC vs. Arkansas. I am praying to God (God IS an SEC fan by the way!) that Arkansas puts it on those a-holes from USC. That way we don't have to hear any crap about them for the rest of the season. Also, maybe the rest of the country will wake up and smell the SEC for a change! (Can I get an Amen, people!?)

Anyway, as usual, I will be flying the LSU flag every Saturday. And if they don't have the season that I hope they will, then I will just resolve myself to root for any SEC team that is playing. And if the SEC doesn't cut it, then Texas will do, because they really want to be in the SEC anyway!

Ultimately, though, I am still first and foremost, a La. Tech Bulldog fan (Even when they play LSU). But until their games are on ESPN every Saturday and they pack the house like LSU, I have to augment my intake of college spirit with the Tigers. Spoken like a true addict, I know!

Angie just loves how I plan every weekend around who is playing on Saturday. She is always commenting on how I watch games, even though I don't know anything about the teams playing. I try to explain that if certain games go one way, it can be beneficial to LSU and the rest of the SEC, but she stops listening about 2 seconds into it. Oh, yeah! And you have to root against anyone playing USC! Hell, I'd root for NLU (ULM) if they were playing USC! Anyone who knows of the rivarly between La. Tech and NLU, understands the weight of that statement.

I am also very interested in the Saints this year, but they aren't on TV nearly as much as the Tigers, so Angie doesn't have to worry about many Sundays and Mondays. Besides, as far as Pro games and unimportant college games, I have TIVO!

So if you get bored this fall, on any given Saturday, I will be on my couch, beer and phone in hand, rejoicing at the alter of college football! Give me a call and we can worship together.
