Visions of Unemployment Lines Fading Away
Hi all,
As some of you may know, I am leaving active duty soon. It has been a source of minor stress in my life. I wouldn't say that I have been worried that I won't get a job, but when you have three chicks and one "prefer-to-stay-in-th-nest-if-you-want-me-to-be-happy" momma chick waiting to know what I'm gonna be doing and where we are gonna be living, it sticks in the back of your mind. Kind of the 800 pound gorrilla that you are desperately trying to ignore and act like it doesn't shake your cool-daddy demeanor.
Well, last week, I got word that my interview with a federal law enforcement agency went extremely well and I will be hearing from them soon. That's pretty exciting, since that would be my first choice.
I am still waiting to hear about a government contractor position, but the navy is being, well, the navy...typically slow and non-communicative.
So, today, I get finished with preparing dinner, and I decide to check my email. And instead of my usual 25 junk emails, I see and email from a major corporation based out of Slidell, that makes large scale vehicles and boats for various military services. I have been talking with a neighbor, who works for the company, about possible position within the company that I might be a good fit for. Well, evidently, he mentioned me to one of the hiring agents, and they want to speak with me. They said several positions are available, and they want to see if I am a good fit for any of them.
Finally, I get a bite! I have been waiting for a call like this for a while now, and can't help but be excited about it. I may fall on my face in the interview, but for now, I am stoked!
Peace out!
